This committee helps to plan the celebration of the parish liturgies. They listen to parishioners’ experiences of liturgy, evaluate them, and strive to make all aspects of the community’s worship as meaningful as possible.

Music, such a significant part of worship, can involve parishioners in a variety of ways. Being a part of the seasonal choirs, playing an instrument, or leading as cantor are specific opportunities available. This ministry involves three English choirs, two Spanish Choirs and one Italian Choir. This ministry is performed at weekly Sunday Masses and during special celebrations during the year.

Lectors assist at the Mass and other liturgies in proclaiming the Word of God in the readings. They also present the prayers of the faithful and parish announcements, indicating the important role of the laity in the liturgy.

Parish members show stewardship through the weekly collection at Mass. Rotating groups of parishioners count the collection each week. This is to assure accuracy and accountability.

Those who received first Communion already are welcome to participate in the liturgy by serving with the priest at Mass. This is an important involvement for our younger members of the Parish. Training is provided by an adult minister.

Ushers / Welcoming Committee 
Greeters create a hospitable environment before Mass by welcoming people with a smile as they enter the church, making them feel at home.
Ushers are primarily responsible for making people feel welcomed at Mass and assisting them in finding seating. They also assist with the offertory collection, processional direction, and distributing bulletins. It is the responsibility of this committee to make sure the missalettes are in order for the next Mass, the bulletins are in place, etc…

Married couples assist as team members in the preparation meetings for engaged couples by giving presentations on the sacrament of marriage and a wide spectrum of issues which enhance and deepen love for each other and our gracious God.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter is a experience designed to give married couples the opportunity to learn a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. It’s a chance to look deeply into their relationship with each other and with God. It’s a time to share their feelings, hopes and dreams with each other.

The Marriage Encounter is designed in such a way that both priests and religious can participate fully. The principles of love, commitment and effective communication translate quite readily to the relationship between a priest and his parish or any group to whom he ministers as well as to a religious community.

This Movement intends to discover, live and transmit family Christian values, for example: marriage as a vocation, the saving strength of the Sacrament of Matrimony, the importance of Christian faith in the life of the family, the family as a domestic church passing their faith to future generations. It is this family based Movement that evangelizes the family and from the family.

Ministers to the Sick go to those who are confined to their homes, nursing homes, or hospitals. They sometimes bring communion or just spend time in prayer and fellowship with these individuals. Ministers to the Sick foster a living link between the Body of Christ at Holy Cross and our parishioners who are unable to attend parish celebrations.

This group offers prayers, sympathy, and spiritual support to parishioners who have recently lost a loved one. This support program helps the bereaved to cope with the grief of losing a loved one.
